Problem
The surface washing and rinsing baths and the tower system in aluminium profile production required pure water with a low mineral content and continuously monitorable conductivity. Feeding this water to the process without removing the dissolved salts and ions in the raw water put surface quality and equipment at risk.
Solution
- RO2250 reverse osmosis line producing 54,000 litres (2.25 m³/h) of product water a day (Toray membranes, about 65% recovery)
- Cation-anion deionisation (DI) with a capacity of 48,000 litres (2 m³/h) a day and an activated carbon pre-stage
- RO500 reverse osmosis system with a Rotaflow high-pressure pump as a second line
- 5 micron Big Blue cartridge prefiltration and a high-pressure pump
- Digital conductivity measurement on the product water line, product and reject flow meters, automatic autoflush membrane rinsing
- Washing bath recirculation and pure water filling lines for the tower system; a 46-point equipment and valve operating guide
Result
The washing baths and tower system are supplied with pure water through the RO and DI lines; the RO2250 line produces 54,000 litres of product water a day at about 65% recovery, and the deionisation system provides 48,000 litres of deionised water a day. Product water conductivity and flows are monitored from the measuring points on the line; a valve and maintenance guide was handed over to the operating team.
