UF (Ultrafiltration) Systems

How do UF (Ultrafiltration) Systems work?

With a membrane structure of 0.01 micron pore size, UF ultrafiltration modules act as a complete barrier to bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms without the need for chemicals. The system delivers turbidity below 0.1 NTU and excellent filtration performance in removing organic matter.

It can be used on its own to treat surface water, and it also allows the effluent of conventional and biological treatment plants to be fed safely to reverse osmosis systems. This makes it the preferred choice in wastewater recovery projects and as pretreatment for seawater reverse osmosis systems. Since it uses no chemicals, its operating cost is low.

The hollow-fibre membranes have a long service life thanks to backwash and air-assisted cleaning cycles. Thanks to the modular design, capacity is increased simply by adding new modules. It takes up much less space than a sand filter, and product water quality is almost unaffected by fluctuations in raw water turbidity.

  2. Stage 2Softening
  3. Stage 3Reverse osmosis / UF
  4. Stage 4Disinfection
