Greywater

Short definitionDomestic wastewater from showers, washbasins and washing machines that contains no toilet waste and can be treated into irrigation and cistern water.

50–70% of the wastewater in a building is greywater. With coarse filtration, biological treatment/UF and disinfection, it is reused as cistern, irrigation and cleaning water, saving 30–50% on the water bill. In hotel, residential complex and shopping centre projects, it earns green building (LEED/BREEAM) points. See Greywater treatment.
